Ok.... Im not 100% sure...but I think I have uninstalled the driver...
(through device manager/uninstall?)
after uninstalling driver... I then reboot it works! 1440x900...it says its found new vga and askes for new driver....I then install new driver/3_373 as you instructed....and after restart reverts back to non widescreen??

Complete uninstall of driver is done through device manager?

Many Thanks for your time Wink

I have bought a 20 inch widescreen monitor and I want to use it in 1440x900 resolution. I have got MB K7SOM(V1.3) socket 462 chipset 740 and 961, BIOS 1.05.00. Display adapter is SiS 650_651_M650_M652_740.

I have found on SiS website that I need to update the VBIOS to 2.28.00 or newer to this option be available. Where can I find the BIOS 2.28.00
tu update my old bios 1.05.00?

Thanks a lot.

Look, I'm really really sorry if I took your precious time so that you could say to me, in such a "gentle" way, to look at the Sticky Trhead.

This is my first time at this forum, for I was searching the bloody bios for this chunky ECS motherboard of a friend of mine. I've spent more than 2 hours playing with the official ECS BIOS (despite the first post here saying this was going to happen: no update at all), the VGA Drivers, locking up his computer, having memory access errors and BSODs.

More than two hours of my work, for FREE, because he's a friend, and all I was trying to do was to find some help. Google told me this thread had something to do with my search, so I've read the first posts and saw "CP" sending this BIOS file LAST YEAR to a lot of people - that's why I start by saying "hope it's not to late".

After posting, my surprise: there were new pages from this year, and now he wasn't sending this bloody file anymore. Now there are links, but none of them helped me at all.

This is my first day here, my second post, I don't HAVE to know the map for this forum in just a couple of hours, buddy. I can assure you, on the other hand, that I'm gonna throw myself into every place I can to find this freaking BIOS ROM and help my friend.

Hoping I'll not send his motherboard to hell, which might happen for flashing BIOS!

But nevermind, don't waste your time on me anymore, SORRY VERY MUCH for disturbing at this Hardware forum, and let me screw myself with the file, motherboard and video shitty chip, all together.

I really don't have to get to a place where I thought people were nicer, to find some stupid answer like this. Do whatever you want to me after this, mate, but please be more polite to other new users to you "home". If you please.

Else, do as you want. That's not my business anyway. You treat people as you like, not my fault, sorry for that.

Take care, danke shön und gutten nacht.

And sorry for bothering.
