Hi,

sry for my bad englisch, im german Very Happy
I found this thread through google. I have an Acer Aspire 1640z notebook, and tried to install MS Vista. After installing i had much problems with my graficcard and other hardware. so i tried to flash my bios with the new microsoft vista bios file of acer.com. After flashing the bios my notebook screen was black, but the pc was able to boot. I bought an external usb floppy drive. Then i loaded the Phönix recovery flash program and flashed my bios back. All worked perfectly, if someone needs help, try to mail per icq (282-465-187). Thank you all, for this nice work Smile I love you Smile

bye

Hi,

I own an Acer Aspire 5021 laptop. The BIOS I downloaded from Acer contains three WPH files. I tried them with the aforementioned method but none of them works. Anyone that has the same model? Could possibly post a link with the backup bios file from such a laptop...?

Regards

alright guys another fatality

it has taken me some time getting to this website after going through ton's of website

thing is

the solution worked.....kinda

welll atleast the first time, i made a flashable USB drive (as a HDD cuz the floppy image did not have enough space to keep the bios as well) to cut a long story short, started up the PC as indicated in your tutorial...the PC went through some beeps, started reading the USB flash drive, and then restarted a couple of times....all this i was not depressing the ctrl+esc (this worked, the Fn=esc..just gave the error beeps and nothing else) ...thing is i got that grey boot up of the screen...no image...just the grey...then the PC went into an auto cycle of rebooting and reading and restarting without showing a logo or anything.....went on for a minute
when..i finally shut it down
i am now back to the dark (no power to LCD mode) can you guys help me any further.....i am trying to get a USB floppy drive but i cannot find it in my city

i am going to try and fly it in abroad.... anything else i can try for the meantime

i really would like this pc to boot...it is not mine, but 1 we bought for my younger sister, to use during her study periods in london..... now due to a mistaken bios flash (yep the same confusion for the 1640-4100 series) i am stuck with this dead lappie

Hi!
I'm new man on forum. Sorry for my english, i'm from Poland.
I discoverded on that great forum many information about blind flash but everybody describes that procedure using phlash utility from phoenix. But my laptop uses Insyde bios. I dowbloaded from acer ftp server dos utility "flashit" but it doesn't work for blind flashing.
If you have Insyde bios there is diskette with only one file. Someone from acer prepared that diskette for me. I think many of us may need that.
So if someone want to sent it i leve here my email.

My acer is alieve! It works! Shocked

hi all,

without doing any kind of bios update my computer died on my hands two days ago.The problem its the same, i turn on the computer and i don't get any sign(black screen, lights on...and any sign of live).

i am trying to restore the bios with your tutorial using a USB pen drive
but without sucess.

What i would like to ask is:

I can do it with a USB pen drive or i need a external floppy drive(linked throught usb of corse)?

if i use a usb pen drive how can i set the computer to startup from there?
(I don't see anything, only a dark screen! So i don't have access to the bios setup!!!!)

If i use an external floppy drive the computer will startup from there???
(if the computer don't read the pen drive how it will read the external floppy drive once is connected with usb????)

p.s - the cdrom drive make some sounds, but from what i have read its not a solution, isn't it?

Thank for your help!!!

Forgive for intervention. Acer Aspire 5024.
The BIOS beep code 4-1-1 appears about bad contact of a wire Touchpad.
