I recently received this motherboard in a box full of "stuff" from a friend. I have searched all over the web for info for this but have come up with absolutely nothing. If there is someone out there that has some info on here please let me know. This is the only site that I have seen any info for this mobo: http://www.cgs4u.com/products.jsp?prod_cat=moth..._name=Motherboard
It is in the listing there but if you click on the name it givees a general description and that is all. There is a link to the Manu. website but it is inop. I would like to be able to get the manual, drivers, and possibly a BIOS. Any and all info that is provided is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

the site seem to pretty much have the same stuff as far as the manauls. I was looking at the BIOS's and on the Jetway site (http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/index.htm) there are 2 different BIOS's (994ASA10.bin & 994ASL10.bin). On the J-Mark website (http://www.j-mark.com/dl/dl.html) there is a BIOS (994ASL10.bin) for a motherboard J994AN-L that is similar to the one that I have except for the fact that it has the 693A chipset and not the 694X chipset that is on mine. I don't know for sure if that is a prob or not and that is the reason for me asking about the BIOS's. In the manuals, the only difference is the release date (DEC. '99 from J-Mark & NOV. '00 from Jetway) and the highest attainable FSB (140mhz from Jetway & 150Mhz from J-Mark). I just now noticed that the *AS & *AS-L series motherboards are the ones WITH the integrated sound and my motherboard DOES NOT have integrated sound. I don't know what the "L" stands for though....... maybe LAN??? I think that the most help I need here though is the BIOS issue.
Thanks again,
Jeremy

Is your PC bootable? Could you please post the BIOS ID and OEM messages?

No, sorry the board isn't bootable and that is why I was looking for the BIOS especially. I have a friend that as a programmer that can flash a new BIOS to the chip for me or if the chip is totally corrupt can flash it to a new chip.
Thnks,
Jeremy
P.S. After I searched around in the info that was provided for me last night I also found a site that has a board with a similar name to it but don't know for sure if it is the same. http://www.elements-pc.com/support/support.html has 2 boards listed there (994AN & 994AS) with the BIOS and driver files, but i can't seem to find a picture or description of the board.

The 693A chipset for the J994AN-L is an error on J-Mark's site. They actually meant 694X. In fact, if you click on the link, you'll see VIA 694X.
So, it's clear then that you've got a board of the J994 family, right?
True, S=sound while N=No sound. Both the S and N use the same BIOS, while the S-L and N-L use the same.
Finding out the meaning of the "L".... seems like it stands for "PC Health Monitoring", after comparing the 993AS and 993AS-L. If your BIOS includes monitorization for this, then you've got the "L".
All the files are here, though: ftp://210.201.178.73/

Well seeing as how my motherboard is inoperable, I can't really find out if there is the PC Health Monitoring on it. Is there some way that I can physically find a chip on the board that supports that Helath Monitor? The other things that I am noticing are: when I look at the J-Mark manual it shows that it supports upto a PIII 600Mhz 133FSB processor in either Slot-1 or Socket 370 BUT in the Jetway manual it has a table that shows upto PIII 1.0Ghz 133FSB CPU for Socket 370 but nothing is stated for the Slot-1. Does the table in the Jetway manual apply to the Slot-1 also? I think that the correct BIOS for my board is the ASL10.BIN. I just noticed on the J-Mark website, if you click on the J994AN-L and read the description it says there is on-board sound and shows the picture WITH the sound BUT in the same token if you click on the J994AS-L and read the description it says NOTHING about on-board sound even though the picture show a board with it. This is getting me utterly confused!!!!
Thanks again for everything,
Jeremy

Just got two replies from Jetway.com.tw and luna.nl (reseller in NL), and strangely they replied :
| Quote: | the 994as motherboard have not lan function
the 994as-l motherboard have lan function |
BTW, the 994AN-L picture at the J-Mark site is the same 994AS-L picture. If you rightclick on the picture and select properties, check the name.
They don't seem the have a 994AN-L picture for it.

Thanx for getting the "L" clarified!! About the stuff on the J-Mark website, YES I did notice that the pictures were the same it is just that the descriptions don't fit the "S" and "N" that we had thought it did. The "N" description says ONBOARD 3D SOUND while the "S" description says NOTHING about SOUND. I don't know if they got it backwards or if maybe WE got it backwards. So now I am still confused about the BIOS situation as there are only 2 BIOS's for essentially 4 MOBO's. Do you think that the ASL10.BIN is the right BIOS for my board then and what would be the fastest processor that I can put in that board???

Okie dokie, so then your saying that I should try the ASA10.BINfor my particular motherboard and NOT the ASL10.BIN??? Have you been able to decipher out the CPU tables yet??? I would like to know the max CPU for that board for both the Slot-1 and the Socket 370. Thanks so much for all of your work and knowledge.

The fastest Coppermine P3 or Celeron you can find. In the Slot1 you'd need a slotket, though.

Argh!!! Now another Jetway technician replied:
| Quote: | | The only difference between those two boards is 994AS-L has an extra chip which can control the processor temperature. |
So I was right! No LAN then in either models!
